How it works

An industry first for Medium Format, we are introducing the most technically advanced, versatile and dynamic feature yet - complete Electronic Shutterintegration.

Now, with the IQ3 100MP on either the XF Camera System or an alternative technical camera, you can capture images without a single moving component.

With the new rolling shutter technology of the IQ3 100MP, you have complete control directly from the digital back.

The Electronic Shutter

not only provides advantages for a number of capture scenarios, but also extends the control and workflow possibilities for Live View, Black Reference integration and technical camera applications.

Architectural Advantages

With the Electronic Shutter, the limitations for special photographic applications like architectural photography are no longer a challenge. Providing complete control over shutter speeds, from 1/4000th of a second up to 1 hour, you are no longer impeded by the physical limitations of your mechanical shutter.

Shooting to fit shutter speed limitations is now a thing of the past.

Landscape Simplicity

The Electronic Shutter transforms a technical camera into a whole new, cuttingedge system.

Without the need for complicated sync cables between lens and back, and introducing Black Reference control, landscape photography using a technical camera becomes a seamless process.

Used in conjunction with the stunning Live View of the IQ3 100MP, the Electronic Shutter provides you with the tools you need to achieve perfect focus and perfect workflow in every frame.

Rolling Shutter Technology

The IQ3 100MP and the Electronic Shutter implement rolling shutter technology to achieve high quality capture without the need for moving parts.

Each individual line of the CMOS sensor is exposed, in sequence, from the top of the sensor to the bottom.

This exposure mirrors the nature of a Focal Plane shutter and eliminates the need for physical components.

The Electronic Shutter provides unprecedented opportunity for alternative camera systems.

Complete Control

Until now, technical camera solutions have always been limited by their mechanical nature and manual workflow requirements.

The Electronic Shutter removes these limitations and provides complete shutter speed, ISO and capture control, no matter what camera system you’re using.

With the flexibility to control a technical camera remotely and set a capture delay, the Electronic Shutter provides capture control from the back or via Capture One Pro software and Capture Pilot.

Advanced Tool Options

Sequence tools like the Time-lapse and Focus Stacking tools now have an advanced option to allow further capture control.

Coupled with the Electronic Shutter of the IQ3 100MP, Time-lapse and Focus Stacking are now silent, smooth and efficient with no shutter action or mirror movement.

In addition existing features are further refined in Feature Update #3 to optimize workflow and flexibility.

Camera Package

With Feature Update #3, emphasis on simplicity and efficiency is clear. With this in mind we’ve streamlined the update proces for XF Camera body,IQ Digital Back, Prism and Lens.

Feature Update #3 now comes in a single simple update file regardless of what digital back you have.

Simply download the Camera Package, put the resulting file on a CF card and then run the update on the IQ Digital Back.

All components of the XF Camera System, regardless of hardware, now update simply and quickly.
